The kitchen is perhaps the most important room in a house. So, it’s no surprise that many of us covet a dream kitchen to make our lives easier and more joyful. It’s one of the reasons that a modern, well-designed kitchen is a surefire way to add value to a property. But what specific features add both financial and lifestyle value?

The most value-adding features can be considered both aesthetically pleasing and helpful. So, it’s no wonder that some of the most worthwhile kitchen features are also some of the biggest. In terms of design features, a dining area such as a breakfast bar comes out on top. This is because modern lives are both busy and sociable, so it’s highly desirable and practical to have. But this isn’t the only big feature that adds value. A kitchen island and white quartz worktops may be considered as merely aesthetic features but they’re a fairly foolproof way to boost your home’s overall value. As these features are modern kitchen classics that won’t easily date, they’re a sound investment.

Kitchen features that are mostly practical can also add financial value. High-end appliances are a big investment, but they usually come with value-adding features and a long lifespan. So, it’s no wonder that house buyers find them attractive.

Storage is one of the most practical kitchen features you can have. It should be a given that a kitchen has plenty of storage but it’s often overlooked. However, this is starting to change. That’s why pantries and pantry cupboards have become a popular feature in kitchens once again. Although highly-fashionable, it’s also a worthwhile investment if you have the space. Afterall, storage will always be useful. Aside from storing food, it can also function as a space to hide away ugly appliances and keep worktops clear, giving it an aesthetic and practical purpose.

Small features can be just as valuable. Anything that cuts down on our daily toil can be seen as valuable in terms of our lifestyle. But as people tend to buy into a lifestyle when they purchase a new home, small features also increase the financial value of your home. Adding pull-out shelves to cupboards, hot water and filter taps to sinks and extractor fans to hobs can make a big difference.
